Have you already installed openSUSE? If so, have you checked to see if it's already installed? If it's not, simply open YaST software management and select Thunderbird for installation.
YaST, rather than software.opensuse.org, is the preferred way to find and install software. It's extremely easy to be careless using software.opensuse.org, unless you are already familiar with what can go wrong using it.
