Initial PHP configuration after starting MySQL and Apache

I have been combing the threads and just cant seem to find anything detailing the initial configuration of PHP once you have your servers running. I a very new, but have managed 2 successfull installs of Slack and have gotten to the point where I can start MySQL and add databases and users from the command prompt. Not bad for a week..

I had read in one of the threads that there are some initial settings one must configure in order to start PHP and get it shaking hands with eveyone. So far, I have not been able to find that thread now that I need it.

Can anyone lend a hand and get me off on the right track?
I have already loaded a test phpinfo document to htdocs and all it did was display the text, so I assume something isn't set up right..
Thanks..

Hello,

Did you copy your php.ini-dist or php.ini-recommended to php.ini? In the same folder these files are located there is also a php.conf that may be named something like php.conf.NEW or something similar, this needs to be copied to php.conf. Both of these files should be looked at and possibly changed to suit you and your enviornment.

These files on my BSD box are located in /usr/local/etc

Add a line to httpd.conf where the other LoadModules are

LoadModule php5_module libexec/apache22/libphp5.so

These lines also in the <IfModule mime_module> section

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

This is on apache2.2 and php5.

Hope that helps some(sorry that was all from memory, been awhile since I had to do that)
