Talking In need of proxy server for unbuntu 11.10

I am new to the Linux O.S, and every aspect of it. I have very much enjoyed learning about Linux, and everything it has to offer including BT5. Its all just fantastic! I am currently looking for a proxy server like "Foxy Proxy" or "mantra" to install with my O.S 11.10. Any suggestions?

FoxyProxy is a firefox addon, i dont see any reason this cant be installed in Ubuntu.

If you are looking for anonymous browsing, i would suggest tor + vidalia https://www.torproject.org/

Neither one of those are proxy servers. They're tools for proxy client management within a browser. Firefox is available on Linux which means Foxy Proxy is too. Was that your intended question or are you actually looking to run an open proxy server (I strongly recommend against this).

I was looking for the proxy server to use wireshark that came with Unbuntu, however it will not work, so I am hoping that is the cause. As I stated, totally new at this. Thanks everyone for your help. Any and all advice will be great!

What are you actually trying to acheive?

You dont need a proxy in order to use wireshark..
