If the font size during start up changes from small to large does that mean anything?

I noticed when I started having problems with my virtualbox os that it start up screen font went from small to large. I no longer see the smaller font size, its about 4 times as large, why did that occur. By the way os does not work any more but I am not asking for a fix to the os, just want to know why the font changed size. Thanks in advance.

A mode switch from 1280x960 to 640x480 could explain it.

I am certain I never deliberately made that mode switch
