I would like to know what is the role of "Daemon" in linux?


I would like to know what is the function of "Daemon" in linux.

A daemon is a Linux/Unix term for what in Windows is called a process.

They run quietly in the background and do stuff behind the scenes.

You may also see the word 'service' used eg in RHEL

service network start (or stop or restart)

when we start to work on linux many services run on system it called daemon,actually it is a process which works in background silently
