Question I want to download KDE, I need help

I have found where I can download KDE (right here), but I am lost in all these folders.
I know almost nothing about Linux; I have a friend who could help me with specifics, but he is a very busy person, and I need to do my homework and at least tell him what it is I want. He is one of those people who is stuck on what he likes and he is trying to impose his likings (which do not necessarily correspond with mine), besides his supply of Linux software is limited, too. So I would like to download stuff myself.

Could you please tell me what I need to download? All the folders, just some of them (which?), do they need to be in a separate directory or what?

Also: would I be wasting my time downloading Linux files under Windows?
Thank you.

Why did u download all of the folders? why don't you just get apt -rpm and install it that way?? You're not compiling, your just installing the rpm's anyways, right?

I didn't download anything yet. I'm trying to figure out what exactly to download.

To begin with I guess I need an rpm. I didn't see anything called "apt" and there're so many rpms there that I am lost. Which files from the link in my 1st post do I need to get?

they only have rpms for fedora but they might work. go into
ftp://kde.us.themoes.org/pub/kde/sta...t/Fedora/i386/
you'll see the rpms. At the very least, you'll need arts, kdelibs and kdebase.

you should download apt for rpm (search google for it) then instead of installing from rpm's you can install kde from one command, or with synaptic (search google for it)
