i/o error while opening vcd files


it shows i/o error while vcd files are opened from a cd. they can't be played either. fstab entry is given below. plz suggest a way

/dev/hdd /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0
i am using ubuntu 5.10

have you tried the cd in a different machine?
what are you using to play them?

yes.. they work in other machines with windows
i tried to play them with mplayer

You shouldn't mount a VCD, it is not meant to be that way in Linux (I dont know why), btw most scratched VCD wont run on Linux, but if condition is good then this the way you play them, to play track 1 you would write

$ mplayer vcd://1
