I need to disable kerberos

I am trying to learn Samba4. They have told me that I cannot have kerberos running, as samba4 has it's own.
What they haven't told me is how to disable it. The only clue I have is 'you [me] decide what services are running.
Kerberos seems to have about 20 or so entries in /etc/services. I have commented them all and I still cannot get samba to work.

Color me reaaaaaaly confused.

Ideas? Comments? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance

It depends on what you are doing...

Samba on its own doesn't care about Kerberos.... Unless you are trying to create an AD server.

If you are trying to be a file server with an AD server then you need kerberos services for authentication (note, you do not need a KDC in this case).

The only Kerberos services that count are the KDC... Everything else is just uses it for authentication.
(that will be the KDC server - krb5kdc, and kpropd for maintaining a hot backup). total of 4 ports. And if you are not running either krb5kdc/kpropd, then they are disabled.
