I have an AC'97 sound card too but an Intel 810 MoBo and it works just by making the module. You could try recompile your kernel with sound card support or try with the ALSA divers if your MoBo is not supported by the OSS drivers
i think that iam try with modeprobe ac97 and codec but i think that isnt work but i will try again!!!thanx.i was go and on MS site but they dont have linux driver for my motherboard and iam no still what to do .....i will now upgrade slackware 8.1 in 9.0 but i think that is not change anything?????
actually the chances are upgrading will fix your problems, I had problems with my sound card in slackware 8.1 but 9.0 configured automatically for me which was great!
i was do whole upgrade but that was fu*** up my whole sys because some files are corupted and they dont want to unpack themself ???if i upgrade kernel pkg what i want does i will get the slack 9.0 or i will be again on 8.1 .or must get the whole slack cd because this 1 what i have is only 250mb big??????
You need to get hold of a complete slackware 9.0 cd. I wouldn't recommend just upgrading the kernel package from the cd as it is likely to couse problems.
i was upgraded but i was must go to upgrade package what was i have and he was upgrdaded but i dont have new gnome or kde but ohters i think that i have a big part???how i can open /dev/mixer he told me to look into /dev/dsp but i geting msg no such devices!!!and do u think does it red hat 9.1 is better then slack???????
Slackware is much more configurable but can be hard to set up. if you are having too many problems with slackware I would recommend a distribution like suse or mandrake.
i dont know, mandrake is shit for me and i dont know how to set up sound card thats all with others i dont have problems i can set win modem without any problems but i cant set the sound card and that with modeprobe doesnt work.i can't get any other options.i was hear thats slack is one of the best and red hat and that suse is little worse than this 2 and does mandrake is worseist.i want red hat because i can get all 3 cd-s
i want use slackware i am just use to him and its great for me but i dont know what i can to do more for seting up sound card because i cant do it anything without music and i love to have sound when i work something.help if can or thx for all help what u give me
yea i know that but can u help me how to set up ac97 i was try it with modprobe but that doesnt work i was hear something with /etc/moduls.conf but i dont know how to set it up,and i dont know how to make mixer ,sequencer ... to work???when i run linux they say me to set up /dev/mixer or to make compatible in Kernel????
