A couple of things. When you post a question you should always provide as much information as possible if you're looking for a complete and correct answer. One of the most important things you should mention is what distro and version you are using, e.g. Debian 6, RHEL 6.2, ... The same applies to the software you did install, what version did you install and how did you do it? Using your package manager, download and compile source, ...
As for your question, what exactly do you want to do with Squid? That information is needed in order to define what your configuration needs to contain. And have you already looked at Google for a configuration manual for Squid? There are a lot of them out there.
