When I try to set my Time and Date on my computer clock (KDE) with the "Set time and Date Automatically" function to an automatic Public Time Server I can't? When I try to pick any of those public servers provided with the application I get the message:

I get the same for any of the pull down selections?

I have the ntpd service running? I thought that it insured I could synchronize my computer to the world time? Any ways my computer was running 30mins faster than it should have and it is annoying.

are you running a firewall? i think ntp uses udp/123. maybe try a specific server near you instead of the pool:

I am not running a fire wall other than my router, but that has never given me problems before? Selinux is disabled.

I don't know what changed but for some reason my system has accepted the provide sites as stated above. I don't know why though. I am monitoring the time periodically to see if it differs. When and how often does the time perform a check against the servers. Is this something I have to schedule? what happens when the computer is turned off for a long period of time and is not connected to the internet?
