Hi,

You can use minicom that comes with most distros and chances are that you already have it installed, or install gtkterm.
Regarding kermit, there is ckermit for suse.

Go for "Minicom". its a serial comm program for linux

opensuse 11.3 is End Of Life
time to upgrade to OpenSUSE 12.1 or the older 11.4

use the package manager gui
yast2
--- or ---
the terminal
Code:
su -
zypper se kermit
--- if listed ---
zypper in kermit
