Hello,

I am wondering how well an ATI Radion HD6450 is supported under linux? I know Nvidia are well supported, but are ATI?

For Ubuntu, check
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/AMD

For other distros, it's best to search their websites.

The radeon driver that comes with your kernel supports ati hd 4870
Quote:
SUPPORTED HARDWARE
The radeon driver supports PCI, AGP, and PCIe video cards based on the following ATI/AMD
chips (note: list is non-exhaustive):
....

RV740/RV770/RV790
Radeon HD 4770/4730/4830/4850/4860/4870/4890
This is extracted from the "man radeon" entry.
