how to upgrade phymyadmin to latest in Centos 5.x

i have Centos 5.8 installed and the phpmyadmin version is 2.11.9.5 though the latest one is 3.4.x.x..

So can anyone please tell me how do i do that?

Moreover i have heard that CentOS 5.x version doesn't support phpmyadmin 3.4.x.x version and that only 6 supports that....is that true?

Thank you all in advance..
