How to run programme using external jar?

I'm trying to use several libraries and run a programme. The command I have is

java -cp .:./home/ec2-user/poi-3.14/poi-3.14-20160307.jar TCPSerServer

The programme runs but the library call is not working, I'm getting an error associated with it ie noclassfounddeferror.

Am I doing something wrong?
