How to remove a process from the process table on an eee pc 701?

Greetings!

I have a 701 with Xandros running. The Process table has duplications, of sorts, and I would like to remove them. I.e. ksysguard then right underneath is ksysguardd both have VM size & PID. The command for ksysguard is /usr/bin/ksysguard. The command for ksysguardd is just the word 'ksysguardd'. I am tinkering around with this unit trying to find my way around. I have referred to many links(some provided by members here!) and can't find any that state it should be there in the first part, and if not, how to remove it. The VmSize in ksysguard is 27,860 and only 2360 in the other. They also have different icons. ksysguard has the 3 keys in the blue box and the other I am not really sure what it is. It looks like an sd card with white mic? in a blue dot. Reading that over really makes me itch, but the blue spot/dot with the white mic? is obscuring the image underneath it. I am sure my tinkering has caused this but it has made me curious. I was hoping to work this unit around before I installed a new distro- what a way to learn! and I'm in no hurry.

If this is just one of those furry little unknowns that runs around when a million mistakes are made in the console, just say. There is no way I could backtrack my steps on this one. All I can tell you is that I have been trying to create missing repositories and run into error after error- but the errors are getting less as I read more and fix as I go. This Process, if legitimate or not, bears the question- if you did have to remove a process that didn't have specified path, how would it be done?

Any suggestions are alway welcome and valued.

That's not a duplication, it's a different process. If you read the man page you'll see:
Quote:
Ksysguardd is part of the KDE System Monitor (ksysguard) client/server architecture that allows monitoring of local as well as remote hosts.
So you can't get rid of one without the other as it has been designed as client/server.

Thank you! I knew I probably just missed something in my search. I will add the link, read the man a bit more carefully, and keeping tinkering!

Health and happiness to you and yours!

Xandros is unsupported for many years now and totally unsupported, which means that you will have a whole bunch of unpatched security problems on that machine. It is strongly recommended to install a supported distribution, for a machine like the 701 I would recommend antiX.

Thank you so very much! My next decision was going to be what to install. I think I have fooled around enough. There's learning and then there's learning something that you're not going to use and/or use incorrectly. I will look into that distro next.

Your advice is appreciated and valued,
