[SOLVED] How to make Windows 7 start automatically with dual boot Fedora 14?

Sorry if the wording in the subject is hard to understand. OK, I have Windows 7 and Fedora 14 both on my laptop in dual boot configuration. When my computer starts up it shows a screen that says press any button to select another operating system to start, then I can make Windows 7 start. But after 2 seconds, if I DON'T press any button then Fedora starts automatically. How can I change this so Windows starts automatically when I don't press any button?

Open your console, login as the root and open the file /boot/grub/menu.lst
using

Code:

vim /boot/grub/menu.lst

Press i to edit the text in it.

All you need to edit is default = 1 from default = 0 This should be in the third or fourth line of the file. And to save the fiole after that press esc , put a ':' n type wq.

And your desired change will be made.

I believe in Fedora, the file is grub.conf and menu.lst is just a link to grub.conf.
You would need to count the title entries and if windows is in fact the first entry, you would do as Genocide_Hoax describes. If it is not the first entry, you would need to put whatever number it is, remember that the count begins with zero (0) not one (1).

To change the default in Ubuntu the file is either /boot/grub/grub.cfg. At the top of this file, change set default to the number of your windows installation counting from zero (0).

Since you are not supposed to edit that file, you could also edit /etc/default/grub file and change the GRUB_DEFAULT= line to the correct number.

Also, from Ubuntu terminal, you could try running the commands: sudo os_prober (hit enter)
then run: sudo update_grub.
