how to know port number of proxy server


hi....
I live in a campus & I use wifi...I know the server host IP but dont know ftp port number....so I can not open ftp pages through google chrome as I cant specify the port number. Is there any way to know the port number???

Typically, you only need to specify the FTP port number if it's a non-standard one (in other words, one other than port 21). That said, I'm a bit confused by your post, as it's not clear whether you're talking about the port of the FTP server or the port of the proxy server. If it's the proxy server, you shouldn't need to alter anything (just tell your browser/whatever to use the same proxy/port for FTP as it does for HTTP, HTTPS, etc.).

you can specify a port number through a colon at the end
ex. for an ftp port
www.ftpsite.com:21
