Exclamation How To Install StarOffice

OK, here's my question, I've downloaded StarOffice in a .bin file, now how do I install it? Do I have to compile it, and if so what commands/programs do I need to do that? I'm running RedHat 7.1 I'd really appreciate any help, I'm sure this is not too hard of a problem for anyone to answer, Thanks in Advance!!!!

You need to do the following: (please note: use whatever the downloaded file is actually named. I used staroffice52.bin as an example.

You need to be in kde/gnome/etc.
You (usually) need to manually set the permissions to +x (chmod +x yourstaroffice.bin)
I think you need to be root (I'm pretty sure...)
You can also setup StarOffice to install as a miniscule app server. This places the binaries in /opt or /usr/local or similar. Then when a user runs it for the forst time they install just the "Workstation" version (about 3-5MB per user).

to 'run' the installer from the folder you are in, use
Code:
./staroffice52.bin
You can look through the help splash when the script starts and see how to set it up for multiple users. It's pretty sweet. ('specially if you have roomates!)

Hey,

Just wanted to thank you for helping me out with this problem. I really appreciate people that already know linux who take the time to help new people learn more about it. Because if it weren't for people like you, we'd all be living in a Microsoft World, imagine that!! Thanks Again
