You can go to http://packages.ubuntu.com(for Ubuntu), and look at the prerequisites for each package that you want to install. Then download the required packages and then install them with synaptic package manager.

For Fedora you can go to http://rpmfind.net download the packages and prerequisites and then burn the lot to cdrom and then install them using rpm.

For Fedora, http://rpm.pbone.net is another source for rpm files. The listed dependencies are linked to the packages you can download for them.

A) Look in the Community Resources section of YaST2. Select a entry at the top, and you can cut and paste the URL from the description on the bottom. You want a packman mirror for 10.3 that is closest to you. For playing DVDs you want the site listed for VLC. ( I don't know if this module contains values from the info on the install disk or if you need access to the internet, so this method may not work.

B) Go to a site like rpm.pbone.net or rpmfind and search for a package like xine or mplayer and get the url or download a package from there.

C) Look at the sticky post at the top of this site's SuSE forum for Links to multimedia packages for SuSE.

Usually the ones you want will have packman or unixheads in the url.
