How to install Kali Linux on VMware Workstation

Hello,

I'm studying for Security Plus Cert and need to install Kali Linux on VMware Workstaion. My first attempt seems to have installed but I get a black screen with a blinking cursor. Very new to linux. I've used it a long time ago but am very excited about learning it for a real purpose this time. I have Kali-linux-2018.4-amd64 iso and picked Debian 7.x 64bit on the VM install when it asked. Not sure if that was correct or not. I'm using VMware Workstation Pro but if someone suggests something better I'm willing to try since I'm new to VMware as well.

Thanks

among many, many other hits from Google with a less than 10 second web search. Did you even try and follow any of those hits, or even do a search of you're own ? If not, then I don't like your chances with your Security Plus Cert, sorry.

Yes indeed got it working early this morning and started going through some of the tools. It was just my first question and I was seeing what people thought, since I was working and had 12 hours to research it and I was using this site as one of those tools. Didn't mean to waste anybody's time but I have to say everything I learned on this subject I got from this site so thanks for that.
