How to install DNS Server on a DHCP client

Hi,

i was trying to setup a dns server here :

it looked like the only missing piece was forwarding other requests outside of my test domain, which i was about to test when i noticed that my machine has dynamic ip.

is it possible to setup a dns server that gets its ip as a dhcp client, and how?

Yes its possible. Look into dynamic DNS, https://account.dyn.com/entrance/

Although i have never used it, so i cant be of much more help than that.

If you are using bind/named just don't set the listen-on option in named.conf it defaults to "any".

This means that when bind starts it will bind to the address it got from the dhcp server and 127.0.0.1 and start listening on both IPs on port 53.
