There is only ONE source package, and that would be from the original authors. And again, if you wanted to learn on your own, you would have read the instructions first.

for most things there are A LOT!!!!! of prerequisites
and those prerequisites ALSO!!! have prerequisites
then the prerequisites of the prerequisites also have MORE prerequisites

this is known as "prerequisites HELL"
( it is along the line of the similar thing in the Microsoft Windows world --" dll HELL ")

and you HAVE!!!! to build the prerequisites IN ORDER !!!

so read the README and INSTALL and the program WEB SITE
and on paper ( yes paper and pencil ) write down what is needed

Then do the same for EVERY prerequisite

then for every prerequisite for each prerequisite

pretty soon you have many many sheets of paper

then WRITE out a list of what needs what ,in the order it is needed .

and include ALL!!! and EVERY OPTION !!! that you will need in the build lines
a lot of programs will need YOU to set a build option because a program that is using it NEEDS that option FIRST .

-- this gets VERY VERY complicated VERY FAST

you might have 20 programs that you have to build and INSTALL and TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just to install one program

in the "old days" on redhat systems rpms were installed using rpm
and MANUALLY solving the above PROBLEM was a VERY BIG PROBLEM

that is why "yum" got invented -- it was NEEDED
