How to identify new lun in server if powerpath is not installed

Hi,

How to identify new lun in a linux box if powerpath is not installed.

New lun has been assigned to linux host. Lun or device id is (028b).

I scanned the new lun using native linux command.

Is there any command to see the new lun.

Hey voleg,

Thanks this was very helpful.

i have one more question.

We have insstaled 2 hba with 2 port in server connected to emc storage box. Also we have installed powerpath.

[root@oracle ~]# lspci | grep -i hba
06:00.0 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. ISP2432-based 4Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 03)
06:00.1 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. ISP2432-based 4Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 03)
0c:00.0 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. ISP2432-based 4Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 03)
0c:00.1 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. ISP2432-based 4Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 03)
[root@oracle ~]#

[root@oracle ~]# powermt display
Symmetrix logical device count=18
CLARiiON logical device count=0
Hitachi logical device count=0
HP xp logical device count=0
Ess logical device count=0
Invista logical device count=0

drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 0 Nov 15 12:24 host4
[root@oracle fc_host]#
In the above output shows 2 hardware paths. what does numbers mean next to qla2xxx (i,e 1 & 2).

Are these numbers configured during powerpath installation or from storage side.

Please explain in detail.

Using PowerPath have no added value except paying to EMC.

What is your question? What to explain ? You have 4 FC ports, great. Next step is to use them.

in the above output numbers 1 & 2 refers to fc port ?
