How to corrupt the datafile in Oracle


Hi dear all

How can I corrupt oracle data block manually using dd command from Linux?

um - you can locate the oracle data block you want to corrupt, set the input file to /dev/random and the output to the datafile name specifying the block. (man dd)

Why would you want to do this?
I smell homework here.

Of course you could open the file in an editor and write junk over the middle.
