Question how to close/stop services at "startup"


i don't know what the cli is in terminal. i tried first searchging the forum and i didn't see anything on my distrobution, but i might should i looked further. i just am new to linux and don't know the syntax or questioning well enough to search. i'm wanting to close all not needed services on a EVERYTHING install.

distro; fedora core 3

The CLI command is chkconfig.
chkconfig --list
Will show the configured services run levels. See man pages for info.
