how to check if port is active?

Hi, guys. I am in trouble. I am getting this annoying error

Error LInux 111 :connection refused

while i am trying to connect through port 1521.

I disabled firewall, but it doesn't help. How can I check if my port is not blocked somehow?

Thanks in advance.

Use the command netstat to which ports are active and connected.

You can give netstat | grep xxx based on your usage.

Regards,
Prakash.

Hi,

We should add the entry of that port in iptables.

Try iptables -h

Prakash.

what service are you trying to connect to on port 1521 (Oracle ) ?

a port won't just be open on it's own, is the service running ?

ps ax | grep oracle

netstat -alnp | grep 1521
