Home site? Do you mean ubuntu.org? If so you don't have a zip file. Windows sometimes get zip files confused with .iso files. You burn the the .iso as an image. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

by home page i meant the home page for PUD Linux. here is link for the home page i was referring to. http://xpud.org/
i have burned iso files from ubuntu download pages a number of times but this is an ubuntu derivative. i like it since it is smaller and faster in running.

Pretty straight-forward. Not very difficult to understand. Your title is misleading, though. xPud is NOT Ubuntu, and aside from "Compatible with Ubuntu," has nothing to do with Ubuntu. This simply means it probably uses the Ubuntu repositories.
