how to boot into more than one hard drive

I have a IDE 20 gig hard drive with windows xp pro on it and I have a 160 sata gig hard drive with ubuntu 8.04 LTS on it and I do not know how to boot into one or the other during boot up. How can I set up the bootup sequice to do this, to give me a choice during boot up to choose which hard drive to boot into. Thank you.

when you installed ubuntu on your sata drive it should have put a boot loader on it and I am sure if your Ide drive was hooked up and you set your disk priority to sata first then IDE then it would boot up with grub then you would select windows or ubuntu.
little more info would help

Basically you will need to install a bootloader (like GRUB) on your system. Part of this will be installed in the MBR (master boot record) of the startup disk, and the other part is usually on a separate partition called /boot (doesn't need to be a separate partition, though). I guess that your Ubuntu HDD has the boot partition already. You will need to install GRUB by using a Live CD or install CD to do so. The exact method depends on the tools at hand. Read the GRUB man pages and tutorial for the proper way.
