I'm asking because I could not find any instructions on their site.
I have downloaded the LSF LiveCD, it is .iso,
I need to know if I should extract the file,
or burn the file as .iso directly to a cd as is.
If there is anything else I should know please tell me, thanks.
Basically what you want to do is to burn the ISO to the CD as an image. By default, with Windows XP, you can just drag n' drop files into the CD writer's folder, and it'll burn the files to a blank cd, right? It works with writing CD's as Data CDs. Well we don't want to do that. For burning ISO CDs in Windows, I've always had good luck with ISOrecorder. It's a very lightweight app and is very intuitive. Newer versions of Nero and Alcohol120% work for burning as an image too. Hope this clears things up a bit. Welcome to Linux by the way. You'll love it.
Thanks for responding, unfortunately I still have some problems.
My CDRW-Drive does not mount a CD-R now, it was working before though. In case you need to know, I am on Fedore Core, I've been using it for about a week, same for Linux. The drive was working before, and I have downloaded the ISO file. When I was trying to burn the CD after a few minutes an error came up, something like, unable to write or error writing. Also the CD Creator program on the system gives me two options, to write on CDRW or to File image. There also was a message before that said, Create with File or from File. I've been looking for guides or other links to help me out, but have not found any. Also, do you know of any links or guides about BitTorrent, on how to install it and use it. I'd like to download other distributions using it. Thanks.
you can write ISO images with many writer-programs.
in gnome dauble-click on the ISO-image and write it with gnomebaker.
in kde u can use K3B or other softwares .
in writting softwares you must select "Burn Images into CD/DVD" not "Data-CD/DVD"...
good luck !
