How do I start the telnetd daemon

Stupid question,

But how do I start the telnetd daemon....

and then keep it restarting every time I reboot. I know it has to get into rc.d file but that's not too easy.

I'm using Gnome and wasn't there a Control Panel option to modify what deamons start at what run level?

Any help here would be great.....I'm using Gnome 1.4

Thanks

I think you will find telnet is started by xinetd used to be inetd.
This starts the other demons as and when required.
There is a man page for it that will tell you how to set it up.
You can put things to run at bootup into
/etc/rc.d/rc.local

Put your own commands at the end of this file and is a good idea to keep a copy of the unchanged file.

I use RedHat 7.0 and running "setup" under root allows one to choose what services to run at boot up if you prefer this.
