How do I Increase Concurrent Connections in Linux RHEL 5.3

Hi,
I have a very simple question .I need to tune Kernel paramaters in RHEL 5 server to increase the number of concurrent connections what is the command to do this .How do i know the defaults and the maximum value i can raise this to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks

can you explain more about what you want to do? We had issues that might relate to what you are seeing, if you explain them, and it was issues around time wait state entries, not concurrent connections that was causing a problem.
