I have SVideoCodec4_01a.exe on my desktop and it will not install it from there. I have tried to use the Add/Remove programs device but it does not recognize it.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks,
redriverd
you can't install .exe, Linux doesn't recognise it natively. It's a windows binary.
Check out http://www.winehq.com/ for a way to run windows programs on linux, it's not easy sometimes ,and a right pain mot of the time. Or look for a Linux equivelent
One problem may be that the executable is not linux native, i.e. it was created to run under windows (which typically names programs with a .exe ending). If it is a windows program, you can try to install it using Wine, which is a program that allows you to run some windows programs on linux with varying degrees of success or failure.
What distribution are you running? Are these video codecs you want to install? There are various places on the net that have codecs packaged for linux...

Go to where you found the *.exe, and see if they have a Linux version.
