Hm. And that works also with internet by call (dynamically assigning of IP after ringing a provider)?

yea your ppp device should also be a network device shouldn't it?

Actually it is a modem (at a serial port) ...

yea your modem should show up as ppp0 in ifconfig, if I'm not mistaken.
