Question Help with GTK+

I need help installing GTK+ version 2.0.0 or later. I've downloaded the source, configured, make'd, and make install'ed, all while under root, but the Gaim rpm (for the latest version; I'm using 0.59.8) insists that it isn't there. I would much prefer to have an rpm of GTK+, as I have yet to have a problem with them (other than when they require a dependency), but there seem to be only sources. Even the GTK homepage only supplies binaries for version 1.2 (I think). So... I either need someone to help me with compiling the source, or telling me where I can find an rpm (or binary) of GTK+. Thanks.

if you're doing this on suse, i'd advise against building purely from source, you should already have gtk2 installed on your sytem , and you just nbeed to install the gtk2-devel package if you're trying to install *other* gtk based programs from source.
