Well I wasn't when I tried that. I'm currently downloading Bodhi Linux to see if I can flash it to the same USB stick. I'm not sure what is failing with Deepin but I never had this problem before so I'll try to install some other distro.

When you first boot, pressing esc or a f-key to get a bios boot menu, is there an option for the drive and if so does it boot?

Yes, I see my HDD drive and when I select it I get the boot menu again.

PS obviously I couldn't flash the iso into the same stick I'm using for the desktop.

No, nothing happens, I don't even get to a grub screen or grub rescue. It just goes back into selecting a booting device.

With the usb unplugged and using the bios boot menu do you have an option to boot from disk and if so do you get a grub menu?

No, with no USB the PC just restarts over and over. If I press the sys key I can select booting from my HDD or the CD drive. I choose the HDD and then it goes black and comed back to the boot menu to choose a device.

In the firmware/bios settings, secure boot is still disabled, fast boot is disabled if it exist and csm is still enable? In firmware/bios settings is there an option to put legacy/csm first in the boot order?

Yes, everything is disabled. It gives you csm only, UEFI only and both. I have tried them all, the default was csm only.

Also for what is worth I found I can boot into a Deepin desktop by just removing a parameter on the USB boot menu,
What parameter did you remove from the usb boot menu?
at the deeepin desktop open a terminal and post the output of
Code:
df -h

I removed "livecd-installer" and replaced the locales to set mine.

Here's the output: https://ibb.co/bzQ8Vn8

I've made a backup of my data using Deepin desktop so I'm currently reinstalling it and letting it use the whole drive, so I guess we'll never know what went wrong. Thanks colorpurple21859 for your time and patience.
