Help please

I am new to Centos, I just installed CentOS 6.6 as part of the Paravel Systems Rivendell radio automation ISO.

The install goes fine, but then when booting, I get a cursor that slowly loads, but ends with this error as indicated in the screenshot.

Hoping someone can help me wit this.

Thank You

If it is a new install, try it again. See if it reoccurs. If you know much about grub, you could interrupt the boot loader to remove "quiet rhgb" from the kernel line, this will make grub show you what it is actually doing while booting.

Not much to do. I would reinstall the OS.

P.S.:
I don't know how (the old) CentOS 6.6 handles UEFI. Always installs OK to any non UEFI computer.
You can actually download the CentOS 6.x of today = CentOS 6.9, i.e. the updated 6.6

64bit http://ftp.funet.fi/pub/mirrors/cent...64-LiveDVD.iso

Just issued a month ago. Wouldn't require a thousand updates like 6.6 .

You might also try Centos 6.9, which is the latest supported version. Not that Centos 6.6 shouldn't work, especially at this stage where the problem you're experiencing should be unrelated to the latest updates, but it's just a thought.

Hey krisl100,

kernel panic ... I agree with r3sistance ... I would at least try installing fresh one more time and see if it reoccurs ... The information provided in the panic (equivalent to a BSOD in Windows) is cursory, but it seems to have something to do with a PCI component on your system. Could you describe the hardware ?

Cheers from a fellow Montrealer ... Can you do something about the weather this week ... ;-)

Since the OP has not responded I assume the below link is what is being referenced which looks like a specialized remix based on CentOS. You might want to contact Paravel Systems to see if they have any ideas. It can be caused by one of many problems. I assume this is your own hardware.

As suggested post the hardware specifications.

That particular error can refer to almost anything. I once received it after configuring "no delay" in the kernel hacking section > I/O delay, in the kernel config.

From ParavelSystems website: http://www.paravelsystems.com/rivend...cast-appliance

CAUTION! The Rivendell Broadcast Appliance DVD installs a pre-configured Linux Operating System and the complete Rivendell Radio Automation System software package on your computer. It will completely replace any operating systems and other data installed on the target system. It is vital that any existing data that needs to be retained be backed up to external media before beginning the installation! Paravel Systems L.L.C. is not responsible for any loss of data.
