HELP! boot cds are really starting to piss me off! omfg
omg ok so far ive burned redhat, fedora, and mandrake 10 onto cds and NONE of them boot! ive wasted freaking 5 cds already this is so stupid, it says press enter to boot from cd and i do, and like 10 secs later its like boot from cd failed enter system disk. i no my computer boots from cds cuz thats how i installed win2k!!!! ARGH i burn them using nero, i click burn iso image and burn them, and i use checksum thingy also! SOMEONE HELP!
Burn them slowly to begin with. They are very bitchy, this is the easiest reason something will go wrong with an ISO. Then if you are still having problems, try using boot discs which will go to the installer and then let you install off the cd.
Burning at a high speed is the easiest way to mess up ISO's, go at aobut 4x or less. And also, use rw cds, if you fk up, redo it
alright, alright, now they're only blank CDs. I usually end up buying my for free after MIRs.
1. Step 1 is to only burn the first CDs of these distributions. Don't do the rest until you know they work.
2. I remember wasting some CDs burning isos from duke.edu. I ended up trying out ibiblio.org, and right away it burned fine and booted no problem. Try downloading a new iso, and make sure to get it from a different site!
3. I assume you know how to use Nero, and that your CDs are 700 MB. Do you have any questions about that? Also, have you ever burned an ISO before? I'm not sure if this is a feature on Nero if you're burning an iso, but are you sure you are using DAO (Disk at Once). Maybe that is the problem.
ahh yes yes yes yes lol ok wat about those boot disks? i see a file called like boot on the iso! i used an rw for mandrake burning at 4x... took like 25 min -_- explain those boot disk thingy how would it work? use a floppy disk?
I think he's referring to the operating system's boot disk. You should be able to find something about them under the documentation for the distribution. It would be under the installation section if your computer does not boot to CD. Did you download a new iso?
