Unhappy help...Alcatel Speedtouch USB ADSL modem under Redhat 9


hello everyone, am new here, also new to linux but i need some help in installing USB speedtouch 330, I am having problems getting my speedtouch 330 USB to work with Red Hat 9 (shrike), i followed the steps here h**p://forums.devshed.com/showthread.php?t=39216&page=1&pp=15 exactly, but every after i start adsl, the lights on 330 flashs so it's ok then i do the "tail -f /tmp/pppd.log" i get this message:

i did use correct vpi and vci, and DNS but i still don't know what is the problem, please help...

Use the proper driver http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/fedora/index.html

Thanks, but the Fedora page won't work with Red Hat 9. You should get a more recent distro, but if you really want to use Red Hat 9, try the Speedtouchconf http://speedtouchconf.sourceforge.net/
Are you sure 8.35 are the correct VPI/VCI numbers?

Have you tried the fedora page with Red Hat 9? You should be able to use the kernel driver anyway. You just might have to fiddle around with the settings a bit more. The speedtouchconf script uses the old user space driver which was made before Alcatel made there specification open. Even the guy who wrote the speedtouch user space driver is now helping out with the kernel driver. I think the speedtouchconf guy is doing a good job but often the kernel driver can be easier to set-up I have found.

yes i did use the right vpi and vci, am using qatar adsl from qtel
