I would like to be able to share partition 2 with 1 and 3. Is this possible? Currently it works with 1 (of course) but is it possible for me to enjoy my music, movies, etc in Linux short of burning it to a CD and putting it on partition 3?
Why yes, of course. Linux really doesn't enjoy writing to NTFS though, in fact it's really not a good idea at all. So yes you can "read" from 2 on 3, but writing will be a no-no for now. If you want to write to it, you might consider converting the "Shared" partition (2) to fat32 where linux has no qualms about writing to that.
Linux, RH in particular should have no problems (AFAIK anyway) with being able to see your Part 2 out of the box, but if it does, there are loads of threads on getting NTFS read support here, and probably a dedicated page for it somewhere that you could find from a quick search on www.google.com/linux
Does this answer your question, or am I missing something?
Thanks MasterC! Yes, you answered fully. All I am intrested in is reading, its just so dull (sound wise) while I'm in Linux... wanted to make some noise! Can't let this Bose stereo system just sit here...
Sweet, Bose! How does it sound? Oh, and you're welcome, I just hope things go as easy as I made it sound, I have been reading a few of the other threads around and it appears that RH8.0 doesn't support ntfs out of the box, but it's supposedly a breeze to get it going, so it should still be pretty straight forward for you from there
I like the sound of it. It's kind of make-shift (has 2 Sony bookshelf speakers with the Bose set) but it's the best sounding system out of all of my friends (I'm 15 by the way!)
