Having Trouble Partitioning Mepis 6

I'm having trouble getting Mepis 6 setup. 1st I go into Qpart and create a partion of 2.5 gig for my root? It won't say root. Next in the 2nd partition I create a swap file with 512 meg. That leaves about 27 gig left. But when I click on the last one to setup my home it won't let me. Anyway, I format what I have setup. Next I go into the customize partition setup and at the top is /root and to the right it says linux with the right amount of disk space. The swap file is ok. But where it says /home it says root with no choice to choose a home directory. What am I doing wrong?

Do you mean QTParted?

I believe SimplyMEPIS, including 6.0, wants at least 3GB for the root ("/") partition.
