Hard Drive Permissions

Hard Drive Permissions (

I have a parititon on my internal drive and an external drive which I cannot fully access as all users. Here is what I have for fstab for each

/dev/hdc4 /mnt/all auto rw,exec,nosuid,nodev,user 0 0
/dev/sda1 /media/external auto rw,exec,nosuid,nodev,user 0 0

I want both of these to be fully accessible by all users. Right now i can read but I can't write to it. I posted a message last week and the person told me to do what I did up there, I thought that it had fixed the problem but it didn't. I just need to know how to edit the fstab so the drives mount on bootup with permissions granted to all users. Thanks!

Are the mountpoints /mnt/all and /media/external also writable for all users?

also, its been a while since i have dealt with fstab, so i cannot remeber the exact usage details, but you might consider passing the umask option. for instance, i think adding umask=002 to the options gives the drive the equivelent of 775 in chmod. but anyways... its definitly something to look into

You've really been around for long enough to know better than
