Question GRUB question

Hiya,

I recently installed Mandrake 10.0. When the bootloader starts it shows several different options (linux, linux-secure, failsafe, windows, etc.) linux-secure is selected by default. I did not know what the others (besides linux-secure and windows) were so I removed them from the list (using Configure Your Computer from within X).

My question is, what were those other options, and was it wise to remove them?

they are simply other kernels

like
kernel-smp
kernel-scure
kernel-default
failsafe
etc etc

it depends on ur requirement which kernel u want to use
like u would like to have a SMP(symm. multi. procc. )kernel if u have a server ,so if u want just a generic kernel and u can have that entry on grub
but it safe to have one or more kernel on ur list which may help u in case of some problem

regards
gaurav
