I know of no linux gui but there is some online deal that boots and results in the hash where you then send it to some server who can crack it in bit.

I last use Gentoo live dvd to zero password. Remember that zero may not fit all cases if anything is tied to password.

As far as I know, such functionality has not yet been made and is only planned by the developers.

There were a couple of very specific Linux distributions designed specifically to boot on and manage a WINDOWS based machine and solve problems. At least one of those had such a tool, because I found and used it for Windows NT server and Win7 desktop many years ago. I have not seen it in years, and it became pretty useless (to me) as soon as encryption was introduced to Windows. I am not sure if the tools that survive and adapted to more current Windows versions have a gui tool for password reset.
I would seek them using a search, or possibly in Distrowatch.

I do know that the very latest versions of Windows treat the password differently, and may sync the password with records at Microsoft. Attempting to change to delete them from outside the OS may brick the Windows OS leading to a reload and reactivate. This is one of the very "features" that drives people from Windows to Linux, but no one can convince Microsoft that it is a bad idea.

In general, I would only seek out such a tool and try to use it on any modern version of Windows if all else had failed and the next other option was a reload anyway. When you do reload, I recommend considering an operating system that does not back you into that box!

Chntpw is integrated into most Linux distributions and you can use it to reset lost Windows password, but it comes with a DOS-style console. Most of free password tools have no GUI. For GUI tools, you can use the paid software PCUnlocker, Passcape or Kon-Boot. If your drive is protected with BitLocker and you've lost the recovery key, then you may need to reinstall.

There is a chntpw-gui app for using a gui to change the windows password form Linux. Alas, I have not found a distribution that includes it, only the GIT source tree. That said, I have not done research, just a couple of quick searches. Such a tool may exist in one of the more mature trees (*buntu perhaps) that I have simply not found.

Personally, I would be more comfortable with the command line tool.

There is also a very popular method named "sticky keys trick" which can also reset a forgotten Windows admin password. No third-party software is used and just a few DOS commands can do the trick.

Locksmith DaRT is a live CD from Microsoft and the built-in password tool has GUI interface:

But DaRT is not freely available. You can download it only if you are a corporate subscriber.
