what does logging into wifislax have to do with getting chrome working? im confused.

if you are using a package manager then you need root level access to install. once it is installed you will run chrome web browser as USER, not as root.

sorry misread the reason you are talking about wifi, that is the name of your beta release for the distro. if you can not log in as user, then something is wrong. you might still need to create a user.

Code:
# adduser foo
follow prompts, then log out of root and into the new user you created.

Simple fix: don't run chrome as root. There's a reason that error is there, it's to prevent people from doing one of the worst things you can do for the security of a system - browsing the web as root.

If you're not referring to the error that's spit out on the terminal when you try to rum chrome as root, then please clarify your question.

if the distro does not support chrome and you are unable to instal via source files then you are not able to run chrome, its rather simple. update your distro to a more current one. Google dropped support for older kernels for a reason. Sadly this means distros like RHEL and all of their forks are a bit fubar as they use the older kernel from Fedora 7 or 9 depending on what release you might be running.

All modern distros that are not placed into extended life cycles like RHEL should have a new enough kernel that Chrome will function properly as non-root user.

web browsing as root is not safe and im glad to see Google had the sense to prohibit that type of action.
