Give user permission to mount/use cdrom drives or usb drives

How do i set linus so that a user has the ability to access the cd rom drive or a usb jump drive. I don't want to ahve to manually type in everything that has to do wiht the root mounting it every time i put in a cd or my jump drive i would like it so that its all clicking on icons like in windows as i use these things a lot and it would make life much eaiser for me.

you can either use the "user" option in "/etc/fstab" (man mount) or configure the automounter (man automount)
