gimp2.10.6 does not start with MX-Linux 17.1 and Lenovo T430
Hay people. I'm a Linux-newcomer. I'm using MX 17.1 on an Lenovo T430 ThinkPad. Today I had the plan to test gimp2.10.6, which is in the graphic-menu, for the first time. It did not start at all. Then I tried to deinstall the package with the MX-installer. This was successful and then I tried, after a "sudo apt-get autoremove" a reinstallation with synaptic. The same problem.
I tried it on the cli and typed gimp and Enter.
Following error-message:
gimp: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgegl-0.4.so.0: undefined symbol: babl_format_with_space
Has anyone an idea of the reason for this problem? This would be great. Thanks.

Hi blacksun13,
Welcome to LQ.
You are not alone, it would seem ... I immediately found loads of recent info after a simple Google search ... Seems to be due to a rogue library that needs to be removed (libbabl).
