Getting PS3 Linux to display on non-HDTV...PLEASE HELP

I have just installed Yellow Dog Linux onto my PS3. Everything worked fine. the only thing wrong is that not all of my screen is showing. only about 75%. my video mode is 480i. I can't see the whole screen and therefore can't run many programs. My TV can't produce a better resolution then that. Ive tried changing my video mode ( ps3-video-mode -v 1) to ( ps3-video-mode -v 1 -f) aka full-screen, to see if that would help. It didn't.

please let me know if you have any ideas.
