Welcome to LinuxQuestions.

You need to help us out just a bit more. What linux distribution/version are you running?
What do you mean by remote terminal?

As Michaelk said, we need more information to fully help you. Things like the form below would help greatly.

OS:
Version:

So for example Ubuntu 13.04,

OS: Ubuntu
Version: 13.04

Now, as you're wondering how to get a remote terminal, I'm going to give you the two options; 1, SSH and 2, local terminal.
To use SSH, you must download a SSH server for example OpenSSH and tinker with it a bit, port forward, etc. then login with Putty or some sort of terminal on another machine.

For a local terminal, hold Ctrl + Alt then press T.

rem8te terminal question

Thnk you for both replies to my inquiry, I don't linux installed in my pc @ the moment but I am trying to continue learning while I am outside like at the public library, and at one time, somehow I was able to obtain a remote account with a temporary linux virtual terminal but now I can't find it anymore, that's my problem. Any suggestions?

Without knowing the specifications of your PC I might suggest running a live CD or USB version if you are unwilling to install anything.

I've never used them so I can not provide any sort of rating.

Ask your library for information on how to log into their system if you are allowed to do so. They will help you.
