gateway problems cand add ip or not working after adding


Hello

my problem is i use a command " route add -net to add a route oand gate way, how do i remove the route addid if it is incorrect but also

my pc's use a standard static ip 192.168.1.X but my gateway is as a given 196.215.X.X if i add this gatway there is no internet but the same gateway is used on windows pc's

And what IP does the windows machine have?

pc an linix ip

the ip to my windows pc's is static 192.168.1.x with gateway 196.214.15.x my linux server using rhel5 is also 192.168.1.X but if i add the gateway the same as on the windows it does not work no internet - email works.

How odd ... I find it hard to believe, really.
192.168.x.x are in the private IP range, 196.214.15.x
is definitely public. A static route w/o an actual
OTHER gateway makes no sense in terms of IP networking.

What's the netmask on the windows-box, and what do you
get when you traceroute the gateway from the windows box?

route

the command to del the route
is says:

[root ~]# route del -net 192.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 gw 192.168.1.X
SIOCDELRT: No such process
